Nigel Coates
Nigel Coates is an architect whose work encompasses buildings, furniture and ideas. As if both driver and conceptual vehicle, his drawing not only explores space, but a subliminal presence of the human form whether at the scale of the object or the city.
He has taken part in many architecture and design shows including the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2000, 2006 and 2008. His work features in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, FRAC in Orléans, the Tchoban Foundation in Berlin and M+ in Hong Kong.
Idyllium
The Idyllium collection is the first ceramic tableware designed by the architect and designer Nigel Coates. Inspired by the possibilities of handmade ceramics in the Amalfi tradition, the collection reflects the designer’s fascination with ancient artefacts and the archetypes that inhabit our imagination. Idyllium is about impulse and universality, an idyllic state of being.
Each plate is hand-made and stamped by the artist.
